Over thirty years ago several pieces of Christian Science literature were left at our home by a stranger who had been given shelter on a stormy night. At the time we were unaware of the angel-visitant which had come to us. However, this literature was preserved and read frequently in connection with the Bible. Christian Science was acknowledged to be a beautiful religion, but its healing efficacy was not sought until five years later.
When my mother was bedridden with a difficulty from which she had suffered for many years, a friend offered to lend her a copy of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Recognizing that material remedies and change of location had failed to help her, and her thought having been prepared by the previous literature, she gratefully accepted the book and through its study was completely healed within two weeks. From that time Christian Science has been our only physician.
When the Christian Science Sunday School was organized in the town where we lived, it was my privilege to attend. The explanation of God as divine Love which was made in the class on the first Sunday, aroused my desire to know more of Christian Science, and I became an earnest student. I was early taught the importance of applying what I was learning to my problems, so that in the effort to be obedient many demonstrations were made in connection with my school work and with physical problems. During this period I was healed of a disease which appeared at certain seasons of the year, and which had troubled me from early childhood. Physicians had been unable to correct the condition, and had pronounced it probably hereditary. After I had been a short time in the Sunday school the difficulty entirely disappeared, and has never returned.
