When I first took up the study of Christian Science the doctors had given me up as what appeared to be a hopeless case. A specialist said I was suffering from a disease of softening of the bone which could only be accounted for as osteomalacia. I had been in bed for about eighteen months, and had spent about three months of this time in a hospital while a bone in my leg which had fractured was trying to mend. On my return home it was found that the treatment had not been successful and the bone had not hardened. The specialist was again called in and other treatment was resorted to, but to no purpose; he said the leg was just a "soft mass." At this stage the specialist stated that nothing further could be done, and he thought I should always have to remain in bed as it could not be expected that I should walk again.
My family were feeling very despondent about me when a fellow worker suggested Christian Science to my daughter, and this really seemed to be the turning point, when "man's extremity is God's opportunity." A practitioner was consulted, and almost immediately the pain, which had been acute all these months, practically left me; and I can truly say there has not been a recurrence, although I had scarcely been sleeping at night without depending on a drug. Step by step, with the help of the practitioner, I gradually began to get about again, and within a year I was able to spend Christmas away from home. I am now able to walk a considerable distance without any sign of fatigue. My healing is still going on, but when I think of my condition before taking up Christian Science the change is more than wonderful, and everyone around me marvels at my recovery.
I feel very grateful for what Christian Science has done for me, and I am giving this testimony hoping that it may help someone whose condition at the moment appears to be as hopeless as mine seemed before I heard of Christian Science.— London, England.
