Dear Father! First I ask to pray aright,
No taint of self or sense within my heart,
But upward rising to that perfect light
In which alone Thy children can have part.
Help me each moment to be better worth
Thy ever present blessing, and to prove
True gratitude by seeking that new birth
Our Master wrought, in sacrificial love.
Help me the better to reflect Thy beauty
In truthful love and thoughtfulness for all;
Seeking to give, with a calm sense of duty,
And joyfully, in answer to Thy call,
The call of Truth and Love, that will not cease
Until Thy children dwell again in peace.
