Testimonies of Healing

Although I did not commence...

From the June 1932 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Although I did not commence the study of Christian Science with the intention of receiving physical healing but because of its beautiful definition of God and its explanation of prayer as given in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, it was not long before I began to prove its healing power. From a very early age I had been a more or less regular smoker, and at the time I commenced to study Christian Science I had been addicted to the habit for some thirteen years, and was then smoking from twenty to thirty cigarettes a day, as well as a pipe. By applying the very little I knew of Christian Science, I was instantaneously healed of the habit, and have never felt any desire to smoke from that day, over seven years ago, to this. Some months later I was healed of a tapeworm which had troubled me for ten years. For the first five of those ten years I had made repeated efforts to free myself from this unpleasant condition by material means, but had invariably failed, and eventually had given up the effort. Christian Science, however, healed me in a short while; and, although at one time I was almost discouraged by the fact that, after an interval of two or three months, the trouble appeared again, I was soon reassured by its disappearance and have had no recurrence in the last six years.

For these and many other instances of healing and regeneration due to the study of Christian Science, I am very grateful. I am also grateful for the Christian Science literature, for membership in The Mother Church and a branch organization, with all the opportunities which such membership affords of helping in the work of the movement, and for all the activities of The Mother Church.—

I am indeed pleased to verify the above testimony of my husband. We were not married at the time these healings took place, but I was a friend of his and witnessed the healing of the smoking habit and knew of the other healing. I, too, am very grateful for Christian Science and for all that it has meant to me during the years that I have been studying it. I have experienced many healings and have witnessed many others due to the power of Truth, and am very grateful to our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for her discovery of Christian Science. I am especially grateful for the peace and harmony that reign in our home as the result of our understanding of God.—
