I should like to tell of the many blessings which have come to me through the study of the Bible and our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and the help of faithful, loving practitioners. Truly, this book is the key to the understanding of eternal life which the Bible contains.
When I came to Christian Science I was reading the Bible and had a great desire to know more of God, as I felt that if we are His children we should know and understand Him better. The Bible was a sealed book to me. I came to Christian Science for the physical healing, not thinking it would give me an understanding of God as Life eternal that knows no death.
When I first went to see a Christian Science practitioner I thought I had everything the matter with me that anyone else had ever had, and I took pains to tell her everything. She was very kind and loving, and said, "I know you can be healed." This gave me great hope, and I read the Bible and Science and Health during the next few months. At the end of that time I found that I had something which I had never thought of before, and our first thought was to consult our family doctor. He told us that nothing but an operation would help me, and he could not give us much encouragement at that. This, of course, threw a shadow over our home. In a few days the thought came to me that Christian Science might help me. With my heart somewhat lighter I went to a practitioner, and I shall never forget her beautiful words. I was instantly healed. From that day to this I have studied and striven to know more of God as our loving Father-Mother, and to realize that we are made in His image and likeness.
