Testimonies of Healing

I should like to give thanks for...

From the July 1932 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I should like to give thanks for the healing of a compound fracture of the ankle. I was helping to nurse my father, who was very ill at my brother's house. While carrying a saucepan of boiling water, I slipped on the floor and fell, twisting my foot and breaking the bones. When I felt myself falling. I declared that there are no accidents in divine Mind, for God guides, guards, governs, and protects all.

My sister-in-law asked what she should do, and I said, "Please get me to the bed," for I wanted to be alone, as no one in that house was interested in Christian Science. In less than five minutes the doctor arrived to see my father, but was brought to me. He was greatly shocked when he saw my foot, for he said he had never seen such an unsightly condition. He was afraid to touch it, as he did not know what to do; but the "still small voice" of Truth said, God knows, and I felt a great sense of peace and joy as I told him I was not afraid. He took hold of my foot and with one twist the whole ankle clicked back into position. While the doctor was doing this, the words in Hebrews, "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword," kept ringing in my ears, and I knew that all was well.

The doctor seemed very much alarmed and wanted the foot X-rayed, for he thought I should never use it again. I consented to have this done and went to the hospital; and after X-raying my ankle the doctors said that it was so wonderfully set it looked more like two cracks than breaks. They then said the knitting would be more painful than I could bear, and asked me to stay in the hospital. I told them that I should be quite all right, and that my place was at home; that a sister was coming to stay with me, and she would look after us all— which she most lovingly did.
