Testimonies of Healing

From the January 1933 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Since childhood I have enjoyed the benefits of Christian Science, and the answer to the question of how adequately to repay divine Love has become clearer through Mrs. Eddy's words in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 3), where she states that "to understand God is the work of eternity, and demands absolute consecration of thought, energy, and desire." And this has become my earnest effort, as blessing has been added to blessing.

I am grateful for the healings that followed my admission to the Christian Science Sunday School, among them the healing of a bad temper, and the instantaneous healing of earache while my mother read to me from the textbook. If the faults of disposition and character which have been destroyed were listed, the list would be long, and would include procrastination, unkind criticism, resentment, impatience, and many others. The gladness of victory that accompanied each step toward greater freedom from the bondage which these ungodlike qualities imposed, brought with it also humility. Truly "the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds."

The protective power of the truth expressed in the ninety-first and twenty-third Psalms was taught so clearly in the Sunday school that fear generally was eliminated, such as fear of storms, of examinations, of contagion; and many times there has been reversal of the belief of contagion, simply by realizing man's immunity from anything not sent by God.
