For a long time I have wished to give a written expression of my deep gratitude for all the blessings that have come to me through the teachings of Christian Science. I was first impressed by hearing of a lady who had been raised up from years of paralysis by Christian Science. About a year later I was doing war work in a large government office in London and felt depressed, unhappy, and full of fear. I then remembered this healing and thought, Perhaps Christian Science can help me too. So a relative of mine wrote to the lady, who long since had become a practitioner, and she lovingly came to see me. At the first visit I was greatly helped; much fear was lifted, and I felt a great sense of peace. The thought that helped me greatly was that I was not under material so-called laws, but under the law of divine Love.
A few weeks previous to this I had been obliged to consult an eye specialist, as my sight seemed very defective and there was a general belief that the work I was doing was trying to the eyes. The doctor pronounced the trouble severe astigmatism; he said I was not using one of my eyes, and prescribed glasses for me to wear. I used them at my work; but on having the first beautiful experience and healing, I felt quite convinced that God could give me all the sight that was necessary, and so it has proved. I never wore the glasses again. In a good light I have always seen all that was necessary, and I have constantly had cause for great thankfulness.
I have had many physical healings. Christian Science has made me happier and more contented, and has protected me from frequent bad colds, also from influenza and measles. Whereas formerly I seemed to be subject to epidemics of so-called contagious disease, I went through two experiences of epidemics of the two foregoing complaints a few years ago without any fear or the slightest bad effect.
