It is with sincerest gratitude to God, and to Mary Baker Eddy, our dear Leader, that I give this testimony.
Some eight years ago, after going through three days of diagnosis, I was told I had ulcers of the stomach and intestines, gall-bladder and heart trouble, and several complications, and that it would be necessary for me to remain in the hospital for treatment. After I had taken medicine hourly for five weeks, the doctors had about decided to operate, since I was not improving and seemed in a very serious condition. At this time my husband attended a Christian Science lecture at the suggestion of a friend, and he was so impressed that the next morning before going to work he brought me "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. I immediately started reading, and the next day the attending doctor said he saw a decided improvement and would not have to operate then. I was out of the hospital in ten days and back at work in six weeks, and I have never had a recurrence of the trouble.
I was also told at that time that it would be impossible for me to have children without an operation, and that even then serious complications could be expected. We now have three dear little children, and through our understanding of Christian Science the births were very harmonious. Our children have been beautifully protected, and I am so grateful that they will always have an understanding of Truth to guide them.
