It is with great joy and gratitude to God and Christian Science that I give this testimony. In 1914, through the recommendation of a friend, I purchased the Christian Science textbook, and while reading it I was healed of neuralgic headaches, constipation, and stomach trouble. I also laid aside glasses which were necessary to prevent headaches caused by strained eyes, and I have never worn them since, nor have I had a return of the headaches.
In the year 1927 I became very ill with typhoid fever and influenza. This time I sought the help of a Christian Science practitioner. This illness was not readily overcome, and for several weeks I suffered severe headaches and high fever. My condition became alarming, as I did not care to eat and I grew very weak. One day I commented on the weakness to the practitioner and she asked me to read an article in the Christian Science Sentinel. A clear realization of the sustaining power and presence of God to heal all our diseases came to me through reading and studying this article, and with the loving help and steadfast loyalty of the practitioner, who said to me many times, "Your life is hid with Christ in God," I was restored to my God-given freedom. During this time I was also healed of an internal goiter, which was supposed to be hereditary.
An outstanding cause for great gratitude was the fact that during all this time I was not absent from my work. I am so thankful to God for our dear Leader, whose clear vision and obedience to the teachings of Christ Jesus enabled her to write Science and Health, which has indeed unlocked the hidden treasures of Truth in the Bible. I also wish to express my gratitude for the Christian Science periodicals, for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church, for class instruction, and to the practitioner who stood steadfast, knowing that God is the only Life. — Chicago, Illinois.
