A little over three years ago a coworker handed me a Christian Science Sentinel which I read from cover to cover. Then, after attending one Wednesday evening testimony meeting and a lecture on the following day, I sought a Christian Science practitioner. I accepted whole-heartedly what I heard, and inquired for further information, thereafter destroying every material remedy I had in the house. Since that time I have had many wonderful proofs of the efficacy of Christian Science.
When I was a young girl I went away to school to prepare for concert work. I practiced many hours a day, and finally some trouble developed with my hands which doctors were unable to diagnose, but all were agreed that I must give up my plans. The piano had to be locked to keep me away from it. That trouble remained with me until I came into Christian Science; then the practitioner whom I consulted commenced work for me, and in a very few months the pain entirely left. During this time an ungovernable temper also disappeared, together with other unlovely traits of character. Frequent and very severe colds, with periodic attacks of influenza, were gradually overcome.
The most outstanding healing I have had, however, which took place shortly after I took up the study of Christian Science, was of extreme melancholy. Spells came every month and lasted from ten days to two weeks. To mortal sense there was no cause for them. I was very miserable during that time and made everyone else around me the same. I could not force a smile, and my expression was black and forbidding. I always seemed to know when a spell was coming on, and dreaded it much. One day, when I awakened to the fact that months had passed without a recurrence of this trouble which I had had since childhood, my gratitude was very great, and it continues daily.
