With a grateful heart for the understanding of God I have gained from the study of Christian Science, I send this testimony.
Twenty-nine years ago, during a time of trouble and great sorrow, a friend told me of Christian Science. I loved to have her talk to me about it, as it helped me so much mentally. I was then a member of a strict orthodox church. I loved my church and I had always lived up to its laws and precepts, so I did not study Christian Science then. For four years my troubles multiplied. Finally, my home and every hope was swept away. I went to another state, and there bought "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I studied but did not understand it. Fear of giving up my old beliefs was holding me.
I went through deep waters for many years, struggling between fear and the desire to understand Christian Science. I prayed continually to God to guide me into the truth that I might know Him aright, and also Christ Jesus, whom He has sent, for "this is life eternal." In 1918 I took up the study of Christian Science in earnest, for all fear of dropping my old beliefs had fallen away from me. I had found "the peace of God, which passeth all understanding."
