FULFILLMENT

From the January 1936 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I have fought for the bravest and best,
I have longed for the greatest and true.
I have followed the holiest quest,
It has brought me, O Father, to You.

In You our desires are stilled,
Here sinning and sorrow shall cease.
Our joys and our hopes are fulfilled,
As we enter Thy kingdom of peace.

We are safe, ever safe at Thy side,
Where no foe can attack or betray,
Where the Pharisee cannot deride,
Nor a lurking thief shadow the way.

For the sword of the Spirit is drawn,
Unveiled are Thy merciful powers;
We have watched, we have watched for the dawn,
And now its fulfillment is ours.
