During more than twenty years it has been my privilege to know of Christian Science; and I am happy to testify to its healing efficacy and to its regenerating influence. I have been healed of many physical conditions; false traits of disposition have also been overcome, and erroneous thinking has been replaced with higher, more spiritual thoughts, resulting in harmony and happiness.
My first healing in Christian Science has always meant a great deal to me, for it proved that "the word of God is quick, and powerful," as the Bible states. My hand was injured by a broken drill while I was operating a tool in a machine shop; instantly the blood flowed freely and the hand became almost twice its normal size. As soon as I realized what had occurred, the thought came, Now is my opportunity to prove what I learned in the Christian Science Sunday School. The pain stopped at once as I began silently to realize "the scientific statement of being," found on page 468 of Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy. The hand was washed and bandaged and I continued work throughout the day. In about three days' time no evidence of the injury was visible, nor were there any of the aftereffects predicted by those who witnessed the accident. Medical aid was refused except for the bandaging of the hand.
Since my first healing I have had many additional proofs of God's loving care and the power of Truth to meet my every need. I have been healed of influenza, ptomaine poisoning, indigestion, and headaches; glasses, which had been worn under doctor's orders, were removed shortly after I became interested in Christian Science and have not been needed since. Resentment over a reduction in salary was not easily overcome, but it finally yielded to the truth when I learned to love my fellow man more and to recognize God, the Giver of all good, as Mind, the employer of all His ideas and abundantly supplying all their needs. During the last year many opportunities for service have opened up for me, and my income has doubled.
