For some time I have felt a desire to write of my gratitude to Christian Science for the many blessings I have received. About thirty years ago I heard a lecture given by a physician, who spoke against Christian Science and Mrs. Eddy. I enjoyed the lecture and admired the speaker at the time, but afterwards I began to question, "What does he fear, that he should speak so violently against what he believes Christian Science to be?"
The next day I bought a copy of the book he had so severely criticized, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I was interested at once, and read steadily on. Before I was halfway through I began to apply the truths I had read and found they worked. My first test came when my little son became ill. I called for Christian Science help, and the child was instantaneously healed.
Shortly after this I had an attack of neuritis from which I had suffered for many years. This was overcome in a few hours with the aid of a practitioner, and has never returned. During these many years there have been healings of various kinds. My daughter was healed of goiter, St. Vitus's dance, and many ailments supposed to be common to children. My son, while in Europe, had a beautiful healing of scarlet fever. The work was done by a practitioner in the United States. I have had sprains and other difficulties quickly healed, for which I am deeply grateful. But that for which I am most grateful is an understanding of God as Principle, as everactive Mind, as the always available, loving Father, guide, and friend.
