"I Have been told that Jesus accomplished his healing works because of his ability to make use of some specific law relative to healing." This statement was made by a man who, as a last resort, had turned to Christian Science for treatment, hoping to be healed of an inveterate disease.
The practitioner to whom he was talking replied: "Christian Science is that law Christian Science is defined by Mary Baker Eddy, its Discoverer and Founder, as 'the law of God, the law of good, interpreting and demonstrating the divine Principle and rule of universal harmony' (Redimental Divine Science, p.1). This is the law which Jesus understood so well and demonstrated so effectively. The Bible enunciated that law, and in her textbook of Christian Science, 'Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures,' Mrs. Eddy elucidates it. You should study both of these books earnestly," He agreed to do so, and was speedily healed.
It is generally conceded by Christian people that the Bible teaches the wisdom, the joy, and the supreme importance of being obedient to the laws of God. But it is not so well understood that the recorded works of healing and other marvels wrought by prophets and apostles resulted from their understanding of and compliance with those laws. Christians in general profess to have great reverence for the Bible, but comparatively few regard it as a textbook for the earnest study of spiritual law. Matter and its so-called laws are given a great deal of consideration, but the Scriptures reveal that the master Christian annulled all the claims of material law by his understanding of spiritual law, and taught that his true followers should learn to emulate his divinely scientific methods. By inspired utterance and by practial demonstration be taught the eternal truths about God's law—that it is omnipotent, omniactive, immutable; that it is the law of universal harmony; and that by an understanding of and obedience to it, sickness and disease may be effectually healed, and all other discordent conditions overcome.
