Deserving more attention from the world than they have yet received are these memorable words of Mary Baker Eddy at the dedication of the Extension of The Mother Church. She said (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 5), "Wholly apart from this mortal dream, this illusion and delusion of sense, Christian Science comes to reveal man as God's image, His idea, coexistent with Him—God giving all and man having all that God gives."
God, the great "I AM," gives all. Since God is All, includes all, and has all, there is nothing for Him to get. Possessing all, He does not acquire. The real man, God's image and likeness, reflects God's perpetual giving. Giving is an idea of divine Mind. Giving pertains to reality; material getting, a belief of mortal mind, dwells in the realm of unreality.
God's sons and daughters, His eternal manifestations, express His continuous giving. We express our true selfhood by intelligent benevolence. We overcome sin and heal sickness in the proportion that we impart what we receive from God. The old man is put off, the new man put on, by unselfish bestowals. Material getting from the basis of self-interest tends toward mortality. Intelligent giving manifests Life eternal.
