ASSOCIATION DAY, A DAY OF COMMUNION

From the October 1938 issue of The Christian Science Journal

WHAT is it that, sweeping down the centuries, seekers for Truth hear? It is the voice of Love.

When David played on the harp, love caused "the evil spirit" to depart from King Saul. It was David's nearness to God, his childlike confidence in the things of Spirit, that gave him the power to manifest love. Centuries later St. John, an apostle of Christ Jesus, set forth his understanding of God, or Truth, in these inspired statements: "God is light;" "God is love."

Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, nearly two thousand years later revealed the divine Principle of all true being to be Love. She accepted this gift from God as a revelation of universal law, to be shared by all mankind. However, she went forward, step by step, with her new discovery until, through the application of this law, she had gained sufficient evidence to prove, beyond all doubt, that Christian Science heals. Her realization of the truth that God is the only Life, and that Life, God, is the source of all intelligence, substance, and law, restored her to health and freedom. She continued her healing ministry for nine years before she published the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." She had proved that Christian Science is not some vague doctrine, or theory, but the demonstrable law of divine healing.
