REAL IDENTITY AND SPIRITUAL LAW

From the October 1938 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Selected

UNDER the marginal heading "Real and unreal identity," on page 70 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy writes, "The divine Mind maintains all identities, from a blade of grass to a star, as distinct and eternal." Real identity and spiritual law relate exclusively to the realm of God's spiritual creation, wherein everything is good.

True success and harmony depend upon a recognition of the spiritual nature of creation as revealed in the Bible and in Christian Science. God gave man dominion over all the earth. Realization of this dominion is not obtained through human will or a material sense of dominancy or power. Rather is it found through an understanding of the identity which reflects God, and is subject alone to divine government. Whatever is true of spiritual creation must be understood and practiced in daily living in the measure of one's understanding, in order to benefit by the truth and thereby help mankind.

True identity is brought to light through spiritual unfoldment, as revealed in Christian Science.
