THE way of perfection is the way of conscious spiritual reflection of God, the one infinite Ego. God maintains His image in harmony and completeness; therefore this reflection is eternal and inviolate. In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy writes (p. 281), "The Ego-man is the reflection of the Ego-God; the Ego-man is the image and likeness of perfect Mind, Spirit, divine Principle." Here, then, is the truth to be demonstrated in Christian Science—the Science which provides the means whereby humanity may lay off the various phases of evil included in the so-called mortal or carnal mind.
Christ Jesus, well knowing that God is the one creator and Father, uncovered the counterfeit claim of evil, or the carnal mind, saying to all error, "Ye are of your father the devil." And he further referred to evil as "a liar, and the father of it." In this trenchant statement he showed the falsity, the nothingness, of evil and exposed its lack of a bona fide, origin, cause, or effect.
The various discords endured, and in some respects fostered by humanity, call for a remedy, and Christian Science provides this remedy. It distinguishes between the true and the false, between the all-powerful and the powerless. And whenever this distinction is undeviatingly maintained by the student of Christian Science, he is blessed by increased clarity of thought, exaltation of purpose, integrity, and harmony. Many today are finding, through Christian Science, that the only antidote for physical and moral suffering, distressing depletion and frustration, is spiritual and divine.
