With all my heart I thank our Father-Mother God for having led me to Christian Science.
Three people very close to my heart, my grandmother, whom I revered very much, my only brother, and a dear friend, were snatched away from me through death—one right after the other. I was plunged into sorrow and sadness, from which I could not free myself at all. A little while before, I had received from an acquaintance some copies of The Herald of Christian Science (German edition) for my friend, and with her had attended a Christian Science service for the first time. I found the atmosphere wonderfully peaceful, and longed to hear more about this Science. After the service I was introduced to a Christian Science practitioner. Thus God directed my steps.
Soon I did not want to miss any services, and asked for Science help in order to be freed from the sorrow and sadness. It was lovingly made clear to me that the true man is immortal. This explanation filled me with great joy; I was deeply affected by what I heard, and found peace and calm again. In Christian Science I found the practical religion of Love, which I had long sought. I had never been seriously ill, but in order to fathom the glorious teaching of Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science. I studied the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly, and gradually gained spiritual understanding. A new world opened up to me. The spiritual contents of the Bible became constantly more comprehensible; things became brighter within and without.
