Christian Science was first brought to my attention in the year 1912, when I was suffering from a severe attack of pleurisy. A doctor had told me that one of my lungs was affected with tuberculosis. He wished to prescribe a course of treatments for me, but I felt sure that medicine could not heal the condition, so did not accept any medical aid.
A friend, who had recently become interested in Christian Science, brought me some of its literature. I read and reread the articles over a period of several weeks, and was greatly comforted. It did not occur to me at the time that I was being benefited physically by this reading, but it was not long before I was healed.
During the next few years my husband and I occasionally attended the Christian Science church services and lectures, and for a time our children attended the Sunday school. Then we left the district, and gradually drifted away from Science.
