Five generations of my family have been healed and blessed by the application of the rules of Christian Science. For many years it has been the rock upon which we have stood, and sickness, lack, discord, and depression have been overcome by the truth of its teachings.
The past year has been one of consecration in, and fruition from, the study of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. We moved to new surroundings, and it has been proved to us that "the place whereon thou standest is holy ground." Loneliness, occasioned by separation from friends and relatives, was healed when I asked in humility to be able to manifest the "joy no man taketh from you." A sense of God's nearness soon took the place of loneliness. A place has been made for me here, and I have found friends and opportunities for much good.
Last winter one of my family seemed to be entering "the valley of the shadow." To human sense he was suffering so terribly that fear and sorrow engulfed me like a cloud, obscuring my understanding of Truth. I prayed for enlightenment as to what was retarding the healing. It came to me that we had been heeding unconsciously the belief of a need for surgery, and I knew that our friends and associates were condemning us for not resorting to this method, which they felt was the only way of saving the sufferer. These subtle suggestions were faced squarely, and we took our stand for Truth, declaring aloud the omnipotence of God. The pain was instantly destroyed, and a complete healing followed.
