Christian Science was brought to my notice more than thirty years ago through the quick healing of my mother. Knowing the distressing physical and mental conditions under which she had labored so long with no relief from physicians, I was convinced that if Christian Science could heal her it could also heal me. At the time, I was suffering from an organic trouble which made it difficult for me to be on my feet long enough to perform the simplest household tasks, or to care properly for our infant son. I honestly desired to be a good Christian, and I was a member of a well-known Protestant denomination, but my foothold in this persuasion became less and less secure, until at last I was filled with confusion and despair.
Upon learning of my mother's remarkable healing, I borrowed a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy from the public library, and read it through with absored interest. "Why, this book answers every question," was my delighted comment. Then I began the long journey from sense to Soul. To my disappointment my healing was slow, but my confidence in Christian Science as the revelation of Truth in this age never faltered. Today I rejoice in a degree of health, happiness, and hope that I once deemed impossible of attainment on earth.
I have been most grateful for the privilege of rearing our two children in Christian Science. What a joy to realize that they have an unfailing Principle upon which to rely daily! This knowledge frees one from a false sense of responsibility concerning their welfare.
