For all the encouragement and inspiration received from reading the testimonies in the Christian Science periodicals throughout many years I am deeply grateful. I have had a number of healings while reading Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. One was of severe headaches, from which I had suffered for many years; another was of a tendency to have periodic colds, and another was of stiffened ankles. It had become quite difficult for me to walk, but I continued my reliance on God, and did not mention the difficulty to anyone. In reading all that Mrs. Eddy has written about domination and dominion I saw that because there is only one Mind there is no mortal mind to dominate, and that man as God's reflection is always governed by Spirit. The healing' followed quickly after this revelation.
While listening to lectures I have had healings, one of which was of a severe pain in the back of the head. This healing followed the lecturer's quoting from Romans, "For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live." He spoke of denying "the deeds of the body"—the material senses. My healing was instantaneous, and there has never been any return of the painful condition.
I have had healings, while singing the Christian Science hymns, of what appeared to be symptoms of pneumonia and asthma. I have had healings while listening to the solos that are sung at the Sunday church services. Some of the words of one of these were, "Teach me how to forgive." I began to be grateful that Christian Science gives one an increased understanding of forgiveness and at that moment began to see that deceit is no part of man in God's image, that man as His image is truthful, honest, and upright. This brought increased freedom to me and to several others.
