I wish to express gratitude for...

From the August 1941 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I wish to express gratitude for Christian Science. Several years ago I roomed in the home of a Christian Scientist. A copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy was placed in my room. One day I opened this book to the twenty-third Psalm as interpreted on page 578. I also read the Glossary. Here were the definitions of many Biblical words. The seed of Truth was sown.

I saw that as God's man I was employed eternally, expressing all good. However, I had much mental house cleaning to do. Bad temper, pride, and stubbornness had to be seen, then cleared out. I was out of work and had made the rounds of business firms where my services might be needed, without success. Then I saw there was work to be done at home, such as cutting the grass and putting the yard in order. This led to my being employed in house cleaning. Presently I found employment driving a milk wagon. I worked elsewhere for two years, and the longer I held onto this the less I earned. When I let go of this work, through what seemed clearly to be right leading, a temporary position opened up. When this came to an end a thought of injustice presented itself to me, but I knew that the right place was available for me. In a short time I secured a steady and more suitable position.

I should like to say that I have experienced convincing physical healings, and was healed instantaneously of smoking by the help of a practitioner.
