"AN HIGHWAY SHALL BE THERE"

From the September 1942 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness.... No lion shall be there, ... but the redeemed shall walk there."—Isaiah 35:8, 9.

The paths of God are hallowed paths,
Aflame with mercy, peace;
There kindness dwells, and brotherhood
Bids all earth's turmoil cease;
There sin-tired ones, 'neath burdens bent,
Find swift and sure release.

In stressful hours if threatening fears
Our vision clear obscure,
If careless hours retard our steps,
Or earth-born pleasures lure,
If we will seek Thy paths we find
For all earth's ills a cure.

Blest paths of God, our guide, our sight,
Our inspiration, prayer!
No ravenous beast shall go thereon,
Nor lion make his lair;
But chastened hearts, sin-swept and clean,
Shall rest Love-sheltered there.
