Because of the many blessings that have come to me through the study of Christian Science, I joyfully send this testimony. Mrs. Eddy says in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 30), "The great Way-shower illustrated Life unconfined, uncontaminated, untrammelled, by matter." This concept of Life is certainly being proved true, as more of Truth is understood. Although I had been brought up as a child to obey steadfastly every material law of health, sickness and ailments of all descriptions were constantly manifesting themselves. For fifteen years I could eat neither acid fruits nor meat without ill effects, and a hamper of medicines was a constant companion. At one time I sent regularly eight thousand miles for a certain medicine, and lived in dread of delay in transport.
At a time of great trouble and loneliness a friend lent me "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and because of the sense of peace it brought me, I continued to read it, and then purchased a copy. Not for a moment did I believe that it could lead me out of ill-health, but I thought it might help neurotic cases.
To my great joy one of my first healings was of acute constipation, a trouble from which I had suffered since childhood. I was also healed of intense pain at stated intervals. Later slight curvature of the spine, which had caused me to wear surgical boots and shoes, was completely corrected. Pyorrhea vanished with the help of a practitioner, although a dentist had informed me the teeth should be extracted. Eighteen months later he stated that my mouth was in a healthier state than he had ever seen it. That was eleven years ago, and there has been no further trouble.
