Christian Science has brought many blessings into my life, not the least of which are several outstanding physical healings. At the time of my birth, the two doctors in attendance declared that I would never breathe. Shortly thereafter a practitioner of Christian Science was called and the situation explained, and almost immediately, as the result of her work, I began to breathe normally, and had no trouble in that respect thereafter.
When I was about nine years old, a school doctor told me that I needed glasses for astigmatism, which would become increasingly worse as I grew older and necessitate my always wearing glasses. In obedience to school rules, I put on glasses, and when I protested to my mother, she advised me to use what I had learned in the Christian Science Sunday School in meeting this problem. I remember that it never once occurred to me to doubt that my work in Christian Science would be effective, and inside of a few months I was able to lay aside the glasses, and the following year I passed an eye test with no trouble at all.
When I was in high school, one of my knees became dislocated as the result of an accident sustained while I was playing games with some friends. An instructor of physical education who was present advised me to see a surgeon immediately if I wanted to avoid serious difficulty. That night my mother and I both worked on this problem, and after a restful sleep I arose the next morning completely healed and with no sign of injury. Three days later I took part in a minuet which was on the program of our graduation exercises.
