Gratitude for those consecrated workers in Christian Science who see the need of others and supply it, prompts this telling of my first healing in Christian Science.
About twenty-five years ago, when my son was a baby, I lived with my husband in an apartment house in New York City. In that same building, several floors above us, lived one of those lovely characters who go quietly about the Father's business, healing and helping others. I became acquainted with this woman, and although I knew nothing about Christian Science at that time, I used to listen eagerly to the interesting ideas which poured from her lips. She was an alert worker and saw my need, dropping seeds of Truth into my consciousness every time she saw me. The things she said seemed entirely reasonable to me, and I always listened eagerly to any experience which she shared with me.
One day I told this woman that the doctor had said my physical organs had been out of place since the birth of my son. I also mentioned that I suffered from piles. That evening when I was again in my own apartment, and long after my husband was sound asleep, I lay wide awake, experiencing what to some will seem a remarkable healing, but which I now know was but the natural result of the operation of God's law. As I lay there, I felt a most glorious sense of peace, and a heavenly quiet was all around me. Then I became conscious of a moving within my body of those organs which were out of place. I was completely healed that night. This healing has been permanent. The following morning I was also healed of the other physical trouble.
