A Student of Christian Science once appeared to be in a very inharmonious environment. It seemed impossible for her to remain in what was so obviously a wrong place, and she decided to go to another city. She told a Christian Science practitioner of her decision to go, but the practitioner, alert to see that God's will be done, wisely counseled her, saying, "Let Love move you out." The student scarcely heard the advice, so determined was she to go, and she went. However, in a few weeks it was necessary for her to return, proving that Love had not moved her, but that she had permitted self-will and human outlining to govern her course.
Mary Baker Eddy writes in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 74), "In Christian Science there is never a retrograde step, never a return to positions outgrown." When Love leads the way, our steps do not have to be retraced, but our journey is ever forward, continuously progressive.
Many an individual in the world today is attempting to work out of what he considers a wrong place and is trying to find his right place. Moreover, the inhabitants of whole countries have been taken over by aggressive nations, and their freedom and property taken from them. Surely they must long to escape from what may well seem to be intolerable conditions. They may indeed feel "out of place." But whether the circumstance is an inharmonious office condition, a child's need of adjustment to school requirements, the condition of a prisoner of war or of a conquered nation, the truth about the real man is that he is never out of place. He is always in his right place in Mind.
