Centuries ago Jesus of Nazareth demonstrated the Christ as God's idea, revealing the immediate remedy for every human" need. Mary Baker Eddy, who discovered the Science of Spirit, the only substance, and shared her divinely inspired knowledge in her writings, says (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 129), "O ye who leap disdainfully from this rock of ages, return and plant thy steps in Christ, Truth, 'the stone which the builders rejected'! Then will angels administer grace, do thy errands, and be thy dearest allies."
Mrs. Eddy's definition of "angels" in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 581), brings a Christlike understanding of God's nearness and all-inclusiveness and our spiritual agreement with Him. She writes: "Angels. God's thoughts passing to man; spiritual intuitions, pure and perfect; the inspiration of goodness, purity, and immortality, counteracting all evil, sensuality, and mortality." The manifold blessings which come to those who allow His angels to "administer grace" is beyond human estimation, yet a possible present realization.
Ignorance of Deity as Spirit, Truth, and Love and failure to teach, preach, and practice Christ's Christianity account for famines, pestilence, poverty, crime, disease, revolutions, and war. Christian Science calls, "O ye who leap disdainfully from this rock of ages, return and plant thy steps in Christ, Truth," and no longer suffer the penalty for submission to evil-mindedness. This change is never physical, personal, or national, but purely mental; hence all who have taken the road of nonresistance to evil, which leads to the valley of indecision, may immediately return to the highway of righteousness, obey God's commands, enjoy spiritual riches, and find heaven all the way.
