My earnest desire is to help spread the truth, as revealed by Christian Science, to my fellow man, and it is with this thought in mind that I give the following testimony of the healing power of the Christ, Truth.
About six years ago I was ill with what the doctor called pneumonitis. After I recuperated from this, my heart got into a serious condition, and a nervous breakdown followed from worry over the heart condition. For about nine months I was in a deplorable condition, going from one doctor to another, and I also visited a well-known New York hospital once a week for a period of time. Like the woman spoken of in the Bible who "had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse," I became steadily worse.
Our two children were young at the time and I loved them very dearly. The thought that I should pass on and leave them, which it seemed I might do, almost broke my heart. During the time I was ailing, about six people recommended Christian Science to me, but I did not believe there was anything left that could help me. I always had loved God, but because of what I had been taught in the religion in which I was reared, I was confused as to the relation of God to man.
