In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 3) Mary Baker Eddy asks this question: "Are we really grateful for the good already received?" In reply to that question I wish to tell of the bountiful blessings I have received through the application of Christian Science.
I have studied Christian Science since I was a child. When seven years of age I was healed of constipation by my mother's reading the ninety-first Psalm. When twelve years of age I had a skin irritation which developed into large sores completely covering my body. The story of Job sustained me during this time. It seemed that I was already within the death valley, and only by radically relying on Truth was I saved. Through the help of a Christian Science practitioner, and by reading Science and Health, I was healed. Material laws about ugly scars were proved powerless.
I have seen the healing power of Truth made manifest when I have cleared my own thinking about others. My husband's grandfather told me of a stomach trouble he had. I immediately mentally reversed what he said and later learned that he suffered no more from this trouble. Instead of having to adhere to a strict diet he was able to eat all food set before him.
