DESIGN FOR LIVING

From the May 1944 issue of The Christian Science Journal

One might perhaps say that there have been almost as many designs for living as there have been people to live them, for everyone has some kind of plan upon which his existence is based, whether the design is sketched out consciously or unconsciously, carefully filled in with detail or roughly indicated by vague lines. Some, indeed, there are who are content to let others design their lives; some drift along in the general thought currents of the day, while others design boldly and try strongly to influence many of their contemporaries' lives for good or evil.

All this is. however, merely concerned with persons and their sense of how to conduct their lives; but there is yet another group of men and women who have discerned, in varying degree, that Mind or Principle produces and governs every idea as it exists in real being.

The history of those who perceived this causative Mind throughout the centuries, and named the Principle they glimpsed "God," is recorded in the Bible. There is revealed men's growing spiritual sense, until we come to Jesus, who reveals the full light of Truth, teaching that God is the loving Father of all, designing and bestowing only good.
