A MAN OF INTEGRITY

From the May 1944 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"As for me. thou upholdest me in mine integrity, and settest me before thy face for ever."

One frequently hears some person referred to as a man of integrity, by which is meant a man who is honest and reliable. Such a person is to be respected, and should be considered a desirable member of any group or community. Nevertheless, the attributes of honesty and reliability would generally be regarded as human characteristics, and would be attributed to a person rather than to man as the expression of divine Mind.

There is, however, a higher and more spiritual meaning of integrity which is synonymous with wholeness, and that divine quality is reflected by man—the image and likeness of God. A dictionary definition of "integrity" is, in part, "State or quality of being complete; . . . wholeness; entirety," and integrity in its spiritual signification means completeness or perfection.
