The golden thread of God's love to man running all through the Bible shows that wherever and whenever there has been a receptive consciousness, the Christ has become to that one a living reality and a demonstrable power.
The consciousness of Truth and Love with which Mary Baker Eddy was blessed, opened her heart to the Christ Science we have today. Through momentous battles with human beliefs, through bereavement of 'much that human sense calls desirable, through consecration to Principle, even in the hour of error's attempt to destroy her, she was ready to recognize and utilize the power of God. So fully was this power revealed to her that she arose from a bed of suffering to health and vigor. This was followed by an ever-increasing awareness of the divine facts of being and of God's call to her to give these facts to the world. The candle of Truth which was lit in her thinking, she must carry to the world, that mankind might share with her the joy and healing of this precious light.
Thus for three years she retired from the world to search the Scriptures, bringing forth her wonderful discovery of the Science of Christianity in the textbook of Christian Science, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." The centuries wait to see unfold the measure of the blessings of this mighty demonstration.
