With a heart full of gratitude for Christian Science, I give this testimony. My mother was healed of liver trouble the first time she attended a Christian Science church. This healing took place over twenty years ago.
After attending an orthodox church since infancy, I realized that I was looking for something that this teaching had not given me. So I discontinued attending Sunday school and church services. One Wednesday evening, I decided to attend a Christian Science church. Listening to the inspiring testimonies. I felt a wonderful peace and calm, and knew at once that Christian Science was what I was looking for. So I began to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I gained so much encouragement and help from reading the textbook that I could hardly put it down.
At this time, I was a senior in high school. I had sufficient credits to graduate in all subjects except biology. As I had just started reading Science and Health, it was very hard for me to like biology. Since these credits were necessary for me to graduate, my mother asked the principal if I might borrow the biology textbook for the summer, and then take an examination covering the whole year's work in the fall. He agreed, but expressed grave doubt that I could pass such an examination. Mother took me to a Christian Science practitioner, who agreed to help me with this problem. Each morning I did my metaphysical work, then studied biology. In the fall I took the examination, and to the astonishment of my teacher and the principal, I passed it with a very good grade, and received my diploma. This experience has always stood out to me, because it was such a tangible proof of God's goodness.
