Although I have been a student of Christian Science for a number of years, I have been apathetic in expressing through our periodicals my gratitude for the manifold blessings I have received from its teachings.
I did not take up the study of Christian Science for physical healing. I became interested in it when my mother was healed of a stomach disorder of many years' standing. It was not, however, until about two years after my mother's healing that I began to study in earnest. Since then I have had numerous healings. Frequent sore throats that had bothered me since childhood have disappeared. The haunting fear that an incurable malady was developing in me was destroyed. Melancholia, supposed to have been inherited, was healed when I realized that it was selfishness that was causing it, and that my self-centered unhappiness was affecting the lives of those around me.
I am becoming increasingly conscious of the healing value of the Manual of The Mother Church. While I was having some dental work done, the dentist found that an abscess at the root of a tooth prevented completion of the work. He wanted to apply his method of treatment, but I knew that Christian Science alone could permanently heal the condition, and I called a practitioner for treatment.
