Christian Science has brought so much peace and joy into my life that I hardly know how to express my gratitude to God. I had heard a great deal about Christian Science, but gave it no serious thought until I was told by a physician that since he could do no more for me he recommended Christian Science treatment. This was the third physician to whom I had applied for relief. None of their remedies had helped, and I was growing worse. I was suffering from a severe cough and a great fear of tuberculosis. Christian Science treatment was asked for, and in about two weeks the healing was complete. This occurred many years ago and the healing has been permanent. Since that time I have had many other healings, some through the help of practitioners, and some through my own study and application of Christian Science. I have been healed of goiter, sprains, chapped hands, nervous breakdown, and many other inharmonious conditions. Most of the ailments mentioned had disappeared from my thought until I began to count my blessings so that I might write this testimony.
On page 494 of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy we read, "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." When my human need was for physical healing, divine Love met this need, and it was a wonderful experience. Following my first physical healing came a great desire to know more about God and my relationship to Him, and this understanding came through the study of Science and Health in connection with the Bible. I learned of God's tender care for all His children and of our nearness to Him as expressed in I John, "Now are we the sons of God."
For all the activities of The Mother Church, for membership in it and in a branch church, for class instruction and the spiritual refreshment which comes from attending association meetings each year, I shall never cease to be thankful. I am particularly grateful for the Sunday school and for the foundation it gives our boys and girls in preparing them to be better citizens and to carry on the work of the Christian Science movement.—South Bend, Indiana.
