I feel most grateful for the privilege which Christian Science has brought to me of daily demonstrating God's power and protection.
Many years ago, while we were summering at the seashore, my young son ran a sharp piece of the boardwalk into his foot. It went in so deep that no trace of its entrance could be seen upon the surface. Through the understanding which Christian Science gives of God's ever-present love, the pain was quickly overcome. However, a fever manifested itself in the evening, and the child went to bed without dinner. Again we turned our thought to God, and soon peace and harmony returned, and no more inconvenience was experienced.
We stayed many months at the seashore and the children played daily, running and jumping as usual, so that the incident was quite forgotten. When we returned home in the fall, a piece of wood half an inch long was expelled, and we joyfully accepted the experience as a natural demonstration of God's power and love. However, a red lump soon appeared on the foot. This remained for several months, and it disturbed my thought, although no pain was felt by the child. I had help from a practitioner at this time, but months passed without a change.
