My husband brought the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, to our home about fifteen years ago, after he had heard that Christian Science heals. I read it casually from time to time, but never very seriously.
About three years later, during the so-called depression, I had a painful swelling and my family was alarmed. The prospects of a doctor's bill and possibly an operation were foreboding. While frantically searching my thought I recalled reading in the textbook that the chapter on "Fruitage" was written by people who had been healed by simply reading the book. I was to be alone for three days, and during this time I read constantly day and night. When my family returned, I was completely healed, much to their amazement.
Our son was quite impressed with this healing and desired to know what had brought it about. He then formed the habit of reading the textbook each night before going to sleep. He was wearing glasses at this time and the frames needed changing. When the doctor made his usual examination, he asked him why he was wearing them, saying that he did not need glasses. This was another proof that the simple reading of the textbook heals.
