That Christian Science heals instantaneously, completely, and permanently I am grateful to bear testimony.
Thirteen years ago I experienced a great deal of suffering with my eyes, resulting from nervous exhaustion. Although I had been a student of Christian Science for many years, during which I had had numerous conclusive proofs of its healing efficacy, my work seemed to bring no relief. I even considered being fitted for glasses, for I thought this would at least make it easier for me to read and study. However, before this step was taken, an appointment was made with a Christian Science practitioner.
When I stated my problem and the combination of circumstances which were troubling me, the practitioner seemed unimpressed. I felt my suffering was very real and was therefore quite surprised when he abruptly asked, "Can you say, 'I am perfect'?" Quickly I replied, "Oh, no, I am a very sick girl." Again the practitioner said, "Let me hear you say, 'I am perfect.'" Once more I evaded by answering, "Of course I know that spiritually I am perfect, but—" I got no farther, for so insistently did this clear-thinking worker see the present perfection of God's creation that he knew if I but acknowledged my wholeness its manifestation would appear. And therefore came the imperative command: "I want to hear you say, 'I am perfect.' Say it with power and conviction because you understand it is the truth about you." My resistance was broken, my alibis forgotten. I obeyed and said with firmness, "I am perfect."
