That "man's extremity is God's opportunity," I have proved beyond the shadow of a doubt. I wish to testify to my healing through mental surgery.
As a child and up until the time of my healing in Christian Science, I had what is termed in dentistry a prognathous jaw, the lower jaw extending out and over the upper. The teeth touched only in front, there being considerable space between the upper and lower teeth at the back of the mouth. Relief was sought from dentists in many places. Some of them merely shook their heads and had nothing to say. Others said they might try to correct the condition, but that it would be a very expensive, long, and painful operation. So nothing was done through material means, and I tried to become reconciled to the situation.
Some years later, while I was in a northern city, Christian Science was brought to my attention. For this I shall always be grateful. About a year and a half later I returned to Los Angeles. It seemed necessary at this time to have some dental work done. When the dentist had completed the work, I asked him if I could obtain relief from the prognathous condition. He stated that he could build up the bite, but that it would be such a burden I could not stand it. I knew, before he ceased speaking, that I should never again ask that question of any dentist. I saw that what I could do was to turn to God, and I knew that He could take care of me.
