With a sincere desire that the following testimony may be helpful to others, I should like to relate a few of the experiences I have had during my study of Christian Science. While taking an active part in the work of an orthodox church, I started to attend the services of the Christian Science church in our city on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings. In the afternoon I attended the Sunday school of the orthodox church, because I was superintendent of one of the departments. I found in Christian Science that which I had been seeking for years. When teaching the stories of Christ Jesus to the children I had always wondered why the healing power referred to was not in use today.
Because it seemed to me that I should finish my term at this work, a practitioner pointed out to me the following citation from the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy (p. 385): "Whatever it is your duty to do, you can do without harm to yourself." Before my term was up I had two outstanding healings.
One was of the need of glasses, which I had worn for twenty years. No specific work was done other than the reading of our textbook. When I talked this over with a practitioner, she pointed out to me that I should do some protective work, and when I started to study the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly, I got my answer from the Bible (John 8:32), "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." Since then, this truth has freed me from many difficulties, both small and large.
