I wish to express my gratitude for the many blessings I have received as a student of Christian Science.
I first took up Christian Science to refute what I thought was unjust reprimand on the part of an aunt, who had been helping my mother in Science. I remembered my aunt had made the statement that no one had a right to make a criticism without investigating first. I therefore went to the city library and secured a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I decided I should first read the book, then write to my aunt. I was enthralled with the first sentence in the Preface (p. vii), "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings."
The next statement that stood out to me was the first sentence in the chapter on Prayer (p. 1), "The prayer that reforms the sinner and heals the sick is an absolute faith that all things are possible to God,—a spiritual understanding of Him, an unselfed love." And on the same page I read these comforting words: "Thoughts unspoken are not unknown to the divine Mind. Desire is prayer; and no loss can occur from trusting God with our desires, that they may be moulded and exalted before they take form in words and in deeds."
