The only presence is that of the infinite, the eternal God, who is omnipresence. Since God is infinite good, this means that good is infinitely abundant; the presence of all that is grand, beautiful, permanent, and true. To understand these truths regarding God's omnipresence is to realize the presence of poise, charm, buoyancy, inspiration, satisfaction, attractiveness, dominion; the presence of all faculties, of intelligence, wisdom, understanding, revelation, and completeness. The presence of that which is eternally harmonious and orderly is evidence of the presence and activity of Science.
Jesus said that we must become as little children in order to enter the kingdom of heaven—the consciousness of this divine presence; that we must express childlike, implicit faith in God, never for a moment wavering or doubting. Youth and age are mortal beliefs externalized and have nothing to do with birth or time.
Our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, states in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 236), "While age is halting between two opinions or battling with false beliefs, youth makes easy and rapid strides towards Truth." This was clearly illustrated when a little child fell from a second-story window. The mother anxiously called a practitioner and then ran downstairs to care for the little girl. When the mother opened the door, the child smilingly greeted her. Her mother asked if she was all right, and the child replied: "Certainly, Mother. I just said, 'Get under me quick, God,' and He said, 'I am already there.'" There was no time between the clear realization of God's presence in the thought of the child and its expression or evidence.
