In the quarter of a century that I have been endeavoring to demonstrate the truth, as revealed in Christian Science, I have had many healings, although I have had few serious illnesses during that period. My good health I attribute to the operation of Truth in my consciousness.
For many years the sense of divine protection under all circumstances, the certainty of the presence of God wherever I might be, in darkness or daylight, has been my greatest blessing. I go about alone a great deal, but without fear because of the conviction that God is at hand.
I wish to tell of a healing of the belief in and resultant suffering from malicious animal magnetism. Fear was very real, for I had had a sense of pronounced shock, which was difficult to shake off. The healing was slow, though an experienced practitioner patiently strove to bring about the right understanding. I learned that "evil is nothing, no thing, mind, nor power" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 330); and that "error of any kind cannot hide from the law of God" (ibid., p. 95). It required more than a year, however, to prove that when understood these truths obliterate all false beliefs. Absence from work for a limited period was necessary. During this time I resigned a position which I treasured highly, and for which I was well fitted.
