My life has been marked by a series of healings and blessings wrought through the application of Christian Science. Sickness has been healed, discord removed, and numerous fears have been overcome through consecrated study of this vast subject.
When my son was a very small child, he awoke one morning unable to walk and experiencing pain in his hip. At that time, according to the doctors, a dreaded disease was prevalent. Our extreme fears were overcome through the work of the practitioner, who made only one visit to our home on this case. I remember saying upon her arrival that it would be easy for me to believe "after" I had seen results. Her answer, a verse from the Bible (John 20:29), was, "Blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed." Soon I felt free enough to leave the child with the maid and go shopping. On my return he was riding his tricycle, exclaiming. "Mommy, I can walk!" I was overjoyed at the evidence of this healing. It was not unlike Bible days. This son had never had medical examinations or tasted medicine in his life, yet he was considered one hundred per cent fit by the armed forces; in fact, special comment was made upon his excellent teeth and general condition.
"Heredity is not a law." The truth of this sentence in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 178) has released me in countless ways. I have been able to see that many misconceptions, instilled by early training, have never belonged to me.
