The years which have elapsed since I...

From the April 1946 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The years which have elapsed since I first became a student of Christian Science have been a record of most joyous spiritual unfoldment. During this time I have had many proofs of the healing power and regenerative influence of divine Love.

For many years previous to my introduction to Christian Science I had suffered from an ailment of the digestive organs. Although I had been treated by doctors and had tried dieting and various so-called health foods, no permanent relief had been found. Soon after I began the daily study of the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly there appeared in the Lesson a citation from the sixth chapter of Matthew, wherein Christ Jesus tells us (verse 25), "Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink." In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 365) Mary Baker Eddy says, "The benign thought of Jesus, finding utterance in such words as 'Take no thought for your life,' would heal the sick, and so enable them to rise above the supposed necessity for physical thought-taking and doctoring."

I had given up all material remedies, and these statements stayed in my thought. Not long after that I awoke to the fact that I was free from all discomfort, and could eat and enjoy anything I liked. At about the same time I was healed of constipation, which had been a lifelong problem.
